FROM A SIMPLE SENTENCE TO A WITH AN ADVERBIAL CLAUSE
- Feeling cold, she lit a fire. (a simple sentence) -> Because she felt cold, she lit a fire. (a complex sentence with an adverbial clause)
- Being unable to get much, I accept a little. -> Since I am unable to get much, I get a little.
- My father being ill, I did not go to work. -> As my father was ill, I did not go to work.
- Not knowing the answer of the test item, he asked his teacher a question. -> Because he did not know the answer of the test item, he asked his teacher a question.
- Impressed (or Being impressed) by her qualifications, he offered her a god job. -> As he was impressed by her qualifications, he offered her a good job.
- Having no money, I will not go. -> Because I have no money, I will not go.
- Having no money, I will go. -> Although I have no money, I will go.
- Having no money, I cannot do much. -> If I have no money, I cannot do much.
- Having no money, I must buy this book. -> While I have no money, I must buy this book.
